Artist Review – Louisa Boyd

Today we are featuring the wonderful book art of Louisa Boyd! Louisa was brought up in an environment surrounded by books & enjoyed nature from a very early age which has really influenced her artwork. Louisa dedicated a lot of time to experimenting with different techniques & materials & often considers place & it’s meaning in her work. She makes literal interpretations of an environment & even uses the books themselves as a reference to culture, heritage & traditional skill.

We love the way Louisa has used the books & paper to create unusual shapes & beautiful shadows as well as the texture she has introduced by working into her pieces with pen, paint & ink. The concertina effect also gives another interesting dimension to her works. See more of Louisa’s amazing work on her website.
