Thursday Inspo – Autumnal Hygge!

Hello everyone!

Welcome back to the Rachael Taylor blog! We hope you’re all loving this gorgeous Autumn weather & are soaking up all the inspiration across this beautiful season! This week, we’ve noticed that it has gotten that little bit chillier. There’s no doubt about it, Winter is just around the corner.

With that in mind, this week we’ve been seeking out some #hygge inspiration. Hygge is wonderful Danish concept that is all about happiness, and over the years it has swept across Instagram, Pinterest, our book shelves & into our homes. Here’s a lovely little definition via Visit Denmark:

“In essence, hygge means creating a warm atmosphere and enjoying the good things in life with good people. The warm glow of candlelight is hygge. Cosying up with a loved one for a movie – that’s hygge, too. And there’s nothing more hygge than sitting around with friends and family, discussing the big and small things in life. Perhaps hygge explains why the Danes are some of the happiest people in the world.”

Hygge is such a wonderful thing & can mean something different from person to person. However, a quick peek on Insta shows that many of us cite warm drinks, Autumnal colours, wooly jumpers & blankets, fairy lights & delicious cakes & cookies as some favourite examples of hygge. Today we want to share some of these warming inspirational images with you to help you get your cosy on!

You may also notice many of these images are done in the ‘flat lay’ style. Why not set yourself the creative challenge of trying a hygge flat lay for your feed? A bit of creative fun & comfort goes a long way.
